My UncommonGoods Gift Guide

Its Valentine’s day today and by tomorrow it will be a thing of the past but there is one thing that lasts, the gifts. If you forgot to get your sweetie something nice don’t sweat it. They will still love you if you get them something later. One of the best places to find thoughtful gifts is to go to the UncommonGoods website, they literally have something for everyone. Their goods are so unique and perfect for gifting be it for Valentine’s day or any other day.

1. For the Foodie: If you are looking for a gift for that foodie in your life, you cannot go wrong with a chocolate truffle making kit. The truffles would be fun to create with your partner or you can even surprise them with the batch you made yourself. I absolutely love the Himalayan Salt Tequila Glasses which would make a perfect gift for someone who loves to entertain. I could not think of a better way to enjoy Tequila than these glasses. The lunch jar with Neoprene Sleeve above is one that would be a big hit.

2. For the Beer Drinker: Nowadays it has become so cool to brew at home. I already know a few our friends who have started to brew their own beer and can’t stop talking about it. I highly recommend the West Coast style IPA Beer Brewing kit for anyone in your life that is interested in home brewing. Another one is the beer caddy. Your man will be the envy of your friends when he shows up to the game with the wooden beer caddy with an attached bottle opener. You can see more ideas for men by visiting this page.

3. For the Jewelry Lover: We often buy jewelry lovers pieces of jewelry which is lovely but have you thought about getting them something to store their jewelry. I love the pedestal jewelry holder from Uncommon goods and how pretty it looks on the dresser as well. How about a unique piece of jewelry? As someone who loves statement pieces, I adore the Mixed Metal Hinged Cuff. Handcrafted in Argentina, it has so much character and makes a great conversation piece. See more gift ideas for women here.

For Everybody: Before we know it springtime will be here and what better way to enjoy the beautiful day by setting up a picnic outing. The cheese and crackers serving board is such a genius design that allows you to set your cheese and crackers perfectly. The handwoven wine tote with glasses is also a crowd pleaser and can carry 6 glasses and a bottle. You can even use at your outdoor barbecue.

If you are not familiar with UncommonGoods, they are US based company that sells unique jewelry, designer décor, tabletop items, and handcrafted gifts and more. Just to give you an idea of what a great online store they are. They have been awarded for outstanding customer service every year since 2007 by Bizrate. Check them out and let me know if like me, you ended up spending an hour browsing all their awesome stuff. It’s really hard to leave that page without spotting something you like.

Recap: Wedding expo at the Solomon Pond Mall

So a number of days ago I told you about the wedding expo at the Solomon Pond Mall that I was going to attend. Well I made it to the event and had a blast spending the afternoon shopping and watching fashion shows. Since I hadn’t visited a mall in a long time, it was a nice change and made my experience at the wedding expo even more fun. In addition to the fashion show there were also various wedding vendors so I was able to leave with a lot of information and ideas for my wedding.

Among the variety of stores, I had to visit the Special Event Bridal shop. They had tons of wedding dresses, prom dresses and it was a lot of fun perusing through the different styles of gowns. .

Bisou Bisou dresses on sale at JC Penny! Who doesn’t love a sale. I swear every store I passed by had a sale sign. I was losing my mind because I wanted to get into each and every one of them.

Wedding expo at the Solomon Pond MallI wish I could share all the pictures of the wedding dresses I took as they were all beautiful. I never considered a lace dress but this one made me reconsider. Also the mermaid style looked pretty good on this model.

Wedding expo at the Solomon Pond MallLoved the train on this dress, not too long or too short. The fashion show included bridesmaid dresses, suits for the groomsmen as well as everyday clothing from stores like Macy’s, Francesca’s and lots more.

Wedding expo at the Solomon Pond MallOne of the vendors at the Solomon pond wedding expo was Bean Counter Bakery and as you can tell from all the awards on their table, they are pretty good at what they do. I also got to try some of their cake samples and I loved all of them. They make all sorts of wedding cakes, from simple to very artistic.

Coach was also one of the vendors at the expo and they had these fabulous bracelets that can be engraved. One of the suggestions was to engrave them for each member of your bridal party as a nice thank you gift. I really love this idea and might even get one of these for myself.

Other vendors were the Frugal flower , Rodan+Fields. How cute are those flowers in the basket for the flower girl.  If you go on frugal flower’s website you will se their amazing work like the the lovely flower table centerpiece above.

Overall I had an amazing time and if you missed this one, don’t worry because the wedding expo at Solomon pond mall is an annual event. Solomon Pond mall is a great shopping destination with a variety of stores, so its a great place to hang out. I left with a new pair of pointy toe flats from Aldo and I can’t wait to wear them when the weather warms up.

Sleek and Chic style: Tobi

I am constantly looking for new styles so when I found this white off the shoulder top from Tobi I knew I had to have it because its design was unlike any top I have ever owned. I paired it with a fab pencil skirt and was very happy with how the outfit turned out. I don’t know what it is about pencil skirts that makes me feel so feminine and powerful.

Tobi skirt and top

This is the kind of outfit that you can wear after work for drinks with your girls or even on date night. I find this look to be very fierce and is a great choice for those who embrace their feminine side. I happened to get another fabulous look from the same shop and I cant wait to share it with you next week. Did I mention that Tobi offers 50% off your first order on their online shop!

Saying goodbye to winter in style

As much as the weather is getting warmer in Boston, some layering is still necessary as it can get a little chilly especially in the mornings and evenings. This entire outfit including shoes is from TJ Maxx, seriously at this rate I should be their spokesperson with the amount of times I shop there. I love how the long cardigan has pockets and the booties add a chic element to this otherwise simple outfit.

I hope this look will inspire your next outfit! I would love to know how you are transitioning into spring fashion?

University Station Westwood: Your next stop for Shopping, Dining and more!

If you haven’t been to the new University station shopping centre in Westwood MA, you ought to take some time this weekend and check it out. Last Friday, a few ladies and I were invited to experience the centre from beauty to shopping and it was a lot of fun. The great thing about University station is that there is something for everyone including shopping, dining to pampering.
I love that my favorite nail salon Miniluxe is located in this centre. If you value cleanliness, great products and great service Miniluxe is worth trying.
Thats me admiring my manicure, I also had an amazing brow wax and the best pedicure I have had in a while. Seriously my feet have never felt so soft.
After the pampering session at miniluxe we headed to Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza. I remembered watching an episode about Anthony’s on Phantom Gourmet and had always wanted to try their pizza since. I ordered a Philly Cheesesteak Pizza and I loved that it was well done. The wings are made just the way I like, they are not drenched in sauce and are served with caramelized onions on the top. The lighting was dim, so I was not able to take a great picture to show you but I promise you will like them.
Last stop was a trip to Dress Barn. I admit I was a little skeptical about going into this store as I had never been in one. I was pleasantly surprised that Dress Barn was stocked with a nice mix of trendy and classic pieces.
Isn’t that a fabulous fitting room below? This store was just awesome, I also picked up some fab accessories that I will be rocking in a an upcoming post.
I had a great experience at University Station and look forward to my next visit. If you don’t live in the Westwood area you will be glad to know that it is right of the highway and is located right next to University Ave T station for easy access.
