Relationships that matter: My Sister and I

Sponsored post written by me in collaboration with Rockland Trust Bank. All opinions and text are mine.

Can you think of a very special relationship in your life and what makes it so meaningful? This is one question we should ask ourselves every now end then. After all, life is not about the things you have but the people you have and what you do. It is always important to step back and appreciate your relationships.

My family is amazing and I love them all to the moon and back, but there’s something special about the relationship I have with my sister. She is that one person that I have shared many laughs, tears, and many ups and downs with. A sisterly bond is truly one of the most beautiful and meaningful relationships that one can have. In the spirit of the holidays and being thankful, I have partnered with Rockland Trust Bank to share a relationship that matters to me.

Having moved around a lot in our childhood, there has always been one constant, my sister. I remember growing up and people would always say we were like Siamese twins because whenever you would see one of us, the other one was nearby.

One of my fondest memories was when we would scrounge under the couch or our father’s pockets for loose change and then take walks to the little tuck shops and buy Ice lollies. We would talk about absolutely nothing of substance on our way but it was always fun and we enjoyed the time.

What makes my sister so special is her unconditional love. Let’s just say I was a bit of a jokester and was always complaining about something silly like what TV channel I wanted to watch. I have seen my sister’s perseverance, even under the most tough situations. She has let nothing stand in her way of completing a double major in Food science and human nutrition at the University of Newcastle Australia and becoming a successful professional working at top organizations in the industry. She is also that voice of reason whenever I need it.

We both had to leave our native country in Africa for better lives and ended up separating because of the different opportunities we had. Since the year 2000 we have seen each other about 3 times. Although we chat almost everyday and FaceTime regularly, nothing beats being together physically. Because she lives in Australia and me in America, traveling can be expensive and requires some serious saving.

When it came to the choice for a bank for my savings, I knew I did not want those major banks were you are just another number in their bottom line. I opened up my savings account with Rockland Trust because they are known for making every customer relationship matter regardless of how big or small their wallets are. They offer everything from banking, investment and insurance services to businesses and individuals. I highly recommend joining a community bank and I am happy with Rockland Trust. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram so you dont miss out on their offers.

With my savings steadily growing it means time to spend with my family again is in the Horizon and I am looking forward to it.  Can’t wait to hear about your special relationship in the comment box below!
