Hot Boots of 2019: The Daisy Lace Up Bootie

It’s boot season and let me tell you each year I am always in search for a new boot style to wear during the cold months. I always end up going for the classic black riding boot or taupe color bootie as they always go with everything. This year I did something different and went with another taupe boot, lol! I’m sure some of you can relate, sometimes we just can’t help but get ourselves the same thing.

This particular bootie is a little different from my regular booties because of the pointy toe. I am a big pointy toe fan but for some reason I always get the round toe style when I get boots. This boot known as the Daisy Lace Up Bootie is from Shoe Dazzle. For those not familiar with Shoe Dazzle, it is a online shoe shopping site for members were you get a new pair each month at ridiculous prices. A shoe membership may sound a little too much, but for shoe fanatics like me who buy shoes regularly this is a no brainer and saves us money.

What I loved about the Daisy Lace Up Bootie besides the style, is the comfort of the shoe thanks to the chunky heel. I spent the day walking in the cobble stone streets of Beacon Hill which can be nightmare in heels but I survived. I would not recommend wearing them if you are going to be on your feet for a long time but a 2 hour walk in them was fine for me. They come in black, brick and taupe which is perfect and the laces add a simple yet stylish look to them.

What is your favorite boot style? Where do you buy yours? I would love to hear from you in the comment section below and don’t forget to find me on instagram for more style and foodie content.

These shoes were given to me for free however I was not obligated to write about them. All opinions and content in this post are completely mine.

Embracing the Black and White Outfit

Black and white is a simple yet sophisticated and timeless color combination that I often run to whenever I need a clean and elegant look. This color combo can however look too formal and boring so wearing it successfully requires some creativity. An example is wearing a fun and edgy shoe instead of a dressy heel. Another example is mixing casual and tailored or fitted and loose like I did with this light coat and black skinny pants.

3 Ways to Spice up a Black and White Outfit:
  1. Mix different textures and prints: Try a black and white striped top and black pants or black and white polkadot blouse with black bottoms. Different textures like leather and suede all take away the boring from black and white. A fun example is a black leather pencil skirt, white cotton tee and pointy toe heels. So chic and stylish.
  2. Keep it casual chic: Next time try pairing your black leather jacket with a striped tee and those black slouchy pants with elastic on the bottom.
  3. Go completely monochromatic: Try a black top, black pants with a pair of white shoes or all white  outfit with black shoes.

Inspired by Black Panther: All Black Head to Toe

So I finally watched Black Panther last weekend and it is safe to say that this amazing movie has become my new obsession, at least until Game of Thrones is back. The Black Panther movie is not only breaking many records, it has created an amazing movement of self-love among minorities as well as female empowerment. To celebrate the movie many people have adorned themselves with traditional African attire or all black outfits. Needless to say I could not resist the opportunity to wear all black again.

My original plan was to wear some African traditional gear to the movie but unfortunately I did not have one so I opted to wear an all black outfit . Wearing all black is always tricky especially since black comes in so many shades however I just went with the flow in this outfit. My blacks did not match at all but they blended well together. You can check out how I pulled off another all black look here.

If you have already seen the Black Panther movie I would like to hear your thoughts about it. If you haven’t I would love to know what your favorite movie is this year.

Fall Fashion: Going Neutral With Denim

What do your wear when you have to run errands or go christmas shopping? I say something comfortable, cute and simple is always the way to go when you have to be on your feet all day. Now when we say comfortable we are not talking sweats and Ugg’s, not that there is anything wrong with them. Although we love our sweats at home, when going out we like to add a touch of elegance even to the most simple look. Think blue jeans and a dressy jacket or black leggings and a long button down sweater.

You can’t go wrong with a pair of jeans and a neutral colored sweater and boots in the fall. This look is simple, comfortable. See how I styled it below.

Going Neutral With Denim

I usually offer 5 ways to style a fashion item but today I am switching things up and giving some fashion terminology knowledge. The style word of the day is neutrals.

Neutrals: They are colors that don’t usually show up on the color wheel. They include black, white, gray, brown and beige. They are sometimes called earth tones or non colors. In other words they are colors not in the rainbow.

Neutral colors are great when it comes to style as they go with most outfits. For example if you are torn on which color boots to get for the winter. You are better off choosing a brown pair than a black pair although having both is even better.

The Super Easy Way to Wear Floral Print

The idea that bright colors should be saved for summer should be tossed away and I am glad that the fashion world has come on board. It used to be that white and other bright colors are not to be worn after labor day. Granted warm tones like brown and plum look good on fall jackets and winter coats, however mustard yellow jackets and blush blazers look just as great in the cooler weather. Today the focus is on the floral print and how to wear it.

The Super Easy Way to Wear a Floral Print

Its the beginning of fall and I am rocking florals and yellow! What can I say Iike to live on the edge. This outfit includes a very bold mustard yellow color from the blazer and purse while the blue jeans balance out the look.

The casual ruffle floral top from Gozon, is the star and anchor of this outfit therefore I selected the accessories, shoes and pants around it. This is a good way to figure out how to style your outfits, find the item that anchors the look and style with items that complement it. When it comes to wearing a floral print like this one it is important not to overdo it by mixing it with another print. Best to pair floral prints with solid prints like I did with these blue jeans. Because the weather is getting cooler in the evenings the mustard yellow blazer was the perfect fit to provide a layer of warmth.

Accessories play a key role in completing this outfit. Bead bracelets, a layered necklace and the Instagram famous Daniel Wellington White Classic Petit Bondi Watch. You can get the same watch or any watch of your choice on the Daniel Wellington website for 15% off! Just use the code STILETTOS at checkout.

Style Question of the day:

How do you like to wear florals and bright colors? Do you like to mix them up or do you like a hint of them?

Please share your thoughts and ideas in the comment section below. I am always looking forward to hearing from you! Like this post on the floral print and are looking for more fall style inspiration? Be sure to check out my post on how to wear a black sweater dress.

Big thanks to Gozon and Daniel Wellington for providing elements of this look. As always, all text and opinions are completely my own.
