Good Eats Boston

Good Eats Boston: Chipotle Mexican Grill

Today’s good eats restaurant feature needs no introduction but deserves some love for sure. Chipotle Mexican Grill is one of the most popular fast casual restaurants in the country and for good reason. The food is real, full of flavor and tastes like something you would eat at home. Everything is prepared by hand, they even hand-mash their guacamole every day from scratch which I love.

Whenever the hubby and I order from Chipotle he orders a salad bowl and I order a burrito. The burritos are enormous, I can never finish it at one go. The way the restaurant works is you go to the counter and tell them what you want in your burrito and they make it in front of you. I am always amazed at how much they put in them and still be able to wrap it perfectly.

The great thing with Chipotle is that there are vegan options and meat lover options. Most importantly it is a very affordable place with very good.

So if ever you are looking for a quick delicious meal I highly recommend Chipotle Mexican Grill. The food is excellent. They have so many locations around the country so you are bound to find one near you. If you are looking for something a little more formal, Moon Bar is a nice alternative.

Good Eats Boston: Bancroft & Co.

This weeks good eats Boston feature is the super stylish and inviting Bancroft & Co. restaurant located north of Boston at the North shore mall. I was there for brunch last weekend and loved everything about it. This modern American steakhouse impressed me the moment I stepped in. Velvet and leather upholstered seating, fun phone booths, plenty of seating and most importantly delicious food.

One of my favorite meals was the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich with chipotle aioli and sweet potato fries. The chicken is perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The slight smokiness off the chipotle aioli paired with the sweetness from sweet potato fries is a flavor bomb in your mouth.

Another favorite of mine were the polenta fries. The crispy polenta fries were perfectly made with a delicious truffle aioli on the side. Not to forget the Bancroft burger with aged cheddar, crispy onions and house brioche. Everything I ate was just delicious.

No meal is complete without something sweet. If there is one thing you should try for brunch when you visit Bancroft & Co. is the crisp malted Belgian waffle with caramelized banana and rum butter sauce. This waffle was epic and could possibly be the best I have had. The inside was soft, fluffy and combined with intense sweet flavor of the caramelized banana, it is just pure heaven in your mouth.

If you have been to The Bancroft location in Burlington you will find a lot a similarities with Bancroft & Co. Some have described The Bancroft as Prince William and Bancroft & Co as Prince Harry. This is because one is more classic and serious while the other is more playful but both have the high quality and standards as they are cut from the same cloth. I totally agree with this comparison but I say you be the judge and head out there for your next meal. You will not be disappointed.

FYI: My meal at Bancroft and Co was complimentary but as always the opinions

Sweet Bakery: Good Eats Boston

The Good Eats Boston feature of the week is the pretty fabulous Sweet Bakery shop in Boston. I recently found out about this place and I’m in love. Sweet Bakery is a great place to go when you owe yourself a sweet treat or for those days when you need a pick me up.

Sweet Bakery is a cute store that is located right in Boston’s downtown crossing area which makes it easily accessible. As you may have noticed, I love stores that have great product but also have pretty and unique ambiance. Sweet Bakery doesn’t disappoint with both. The store is very pretty, decorated with bright and wall-papered walls, little flower vases on the tables and super cool pink princess-like upholstered chairs. You will love the seats right by the window which are perfect for people watching.

There are plenty of cupcake flavors to choose from. I chose a chocolate and coconut flavor cupcake which were both perfect. The cakes are soft and fluffy while the frosting is packed with flavor and not overly sweet. The ratio between cake and frosting is done right. They also serve cookies and other pastries which is great. For all the vegans out there you will be happy to know Sweet has vegan options too.

I really can’t find anything negative to say about this place except it would be nice if they served the cupcakes on a dessert plate rather than a paper plate for eat in guests. However that’s just me and my pickiness, I just detest paper plates and cups as I feel they should only be used for people ordering items to go.

The saying, You can’t buy happiness but you can buy cupcakes is one I totally agree with. There is something about eating a cupcake that brings joy and a feeling that all is right with the world, even for just a few minutes. If you live in the Boston area, I highly recommend Sweet Bakery. They also have locations in Chestnut Hill and Harvard Square. For more info, visit

Good Eats Boston: By Chloe Seaport

February is over and I am happy to report that I have managed to stick to my 80/20 eating plan. Before you think this is some crazy diet, it’s not. The 80/20 eating plan means 80% plant based and 20% everything else. That means there are no restrictions, it’s all about moderation. I believe that it’s fine to have a slice of pizza or a piece of bacon sometimes. Thanks to restaurants like By Chloe it is easy to stick to my eating plan.

Following my 80/20 eating plan means careful consideration when choosing restaurants. Although most restaurants dedicate part of their menu to plant based dishes, it is usually a small section with really boring dishes. Unlike California where I feel like there are more vegetarian and vegan restaurants, Boston is slowly upping it’s game with vegan and vegetarian restaurants. By Chloe being one of them.

Good Eats Boston: By Chloe Seaport

You may be familiar with by Chloe from a previous post I wrote about them. They are a vegan fast casual restaurant with delicious and creative menu items. Recently I tried their Beet Mine Burger, made with a beet-lentil-walnut patty topped with sauteed mushrooms, sauteed kale, pickled red onion, truffled basil aioli‌ and served on whole grain bun. This is by far one of the best vegan burgers I have had.

I added a side of air baked sweet potato fries and a seasonal lemonade to drink. Next time I would like to try the Guac burger which my new photographer friend Becky had. The Guac‌ burger is made with a black bean-quinoa-sweet potato patty, guacamole, corn salsa, lettuce, tomato, onion, tortilla strips, chipotle aioli on a whole grain bun. They do offer gluten free option for those who need.

There is something to be said for the simple, bright and clean ambiance that each By Chloe location has. I absolutely love succulent flower wall and the swinging chairs at the By Chloe Seaport location. With locations in Boston, New York, Providence, Los Angeles and London already, I feel this is not the last time we will hear about By Chloe. Check them out at

Good Eats Boston: Cafés and Coffee

I love coffee shops and cafés. The smell of fresh coffee brewing and the look of people quietly sitting at their tables working on their laptops or girlfriends chatting together sipping on lattes is a vibe I like very much.
There are certain things that I look for in a coffee shop or café. Great coffee, good ambiance, variety and great service. Boston has plenty to offer and there are two coffee shops and cafés that have caught my interest recently.

Tatte Bakery & Cafe

Tatte Bakery & Cafe wins in all aspects. The moment you enter, you are greeted by the smell of baked goods and fresh coffee. As a lover of anything freshly made, this is a winning combination in my book. Their menu is filled with lots of delicious items including avocado toast, topped with arugula and poached eggs. They even have shakshuka which is one of my favorite egg dishes. The decor is very crisp and like all their locations, the tiles are unique and eye capturing. No wonder many Boston bloggers can often be found here snapping cute Instagram photos. Tatte Bakery & Cafe is eye candy with a good menu to match.

La Colombe Coffee Roasters

La Colombe Coffee Roasters is a very no frills spot but is a winner when it comes to serving awesome coffee. I loved their colorful ceramic mugs very much. Even a simple order of hot chocolate is served with latte art. If you love Colombian coffee for its full body, smooth, and low acidic taste then this is your spot. Don’t expect a large selection of food but they serve some classic items like croissants, brownies and biscotti to go with the coffee.

What are your favorite coffee shops and cafés in your area and what do you like about them? I would love to hear from you in the comment box below!
