Hot Boots of 2019: The Daisy Lace Up Bootie

It’s boot season and let me tell you each year I am always in search for a new boot style to wear during the cold months. I always end up going for the classic black riding boot or taupe color bootie as they always go with everything. This year I did something different and went with another taupe boot, lol! I’m sure some of you can relate, sometimes we just can’t help but get ourselves the same thing.

This particular bootie is a little different from my regular booties because of the pointy toe. I am a big pointy toe fan but for some reason I always get the round toe style when I get boots. This boot known as the Daisy Lace Up Bootie is from Shoe Dazzle. For those not familiar with Shoe Dazzle, it is a online shoe shopping site for members were you get a new pair each month at ridiculous prices. A shoe membership may sound a little too much, but for shoe fanatics like me who buy shoes regularly this is a no brainer and saves us money.

What I loved about the Daisy Lace Up Bootie besides the style, is the comfort of the shoe thanks to the chunky heel. I spent the day walking in the cobble stone streets of Beacon Hill which can be nightmare in heels but I survived. I would not recommend wearing them if you are going to be on your feet for a long time but a 2 hour walk in them was fine for me. They come in black, brick and taupe which is perfect and the laces add a simple yet stylish look to them.

What is your favorite boot style? Where do you buy yours? I would love to hear from you in the comment section below and don’t forget to find me on instagram for more style and foodie content.

These shoes were given to me for free however I was not obligated to write about them. All opinions and content in this post are completely mine.

Kitchen Favorites: The Precooked & Packaged Roundup

Even experienced cooks take shortcuts sometimes including buying cake mixes, pre-cut veggies and pre-marinated meats. This gave me the idea to share some of my favorite kitchen life savers and cheat meal options. From ready mixed nuts, cauliflower mash to chocolate satin pies, there are so many options. The key is to select good quality packaged food to ensure you are not sacrificing on taste.

Naturebox packaged snacks Naturebox Blueberry Quinoa bites

If you are looking for an easy way to keep your snack arsenal stocked, Naturebox is the best. Naturebox offers a subscription service where snacks are delivered to your door. It’s an easy way to make sure you never run out of your favorite snacks by subscribing to receive your favorite snack monthly. They have a number of vegan, non-GMO, and gluten-free snack options as well. My favorite are the blueberry almond quinoa bites and the pistachio almond mix.

Alexia Premium Sides. Mashed cauliflower package.

Another favorite kitchen shortcut of mine are the Alexia premium sides. They are starch substitutes that are full of flavor, easy to prepare, delicious and good for you. I usually don’t trust pre cooked veggies but these are pretty good. I have already tried the mashed cauliflower and riced vegetable pilaf which are great with served chicken, beef or anything you wish.

Marie Calleder's Chocolate Satin Pie package and pie

Last but not least is desert! This list would not be complete without something for the sweet lovers. No joke, thes Marie Callender’s deserts are very impressive. They are made from scratch then frozen for your convenience. I have tried the Chocolate Satin Pie which is made of a cookie-crumb crust, with whipped topping and large chocolate curls. So delicious!

Now I am not saying go eat these everyday but they are certainly a life saver on those days when time is not on your side. I would love to know what your favorite pre-cooked or packaged food items in the comment box below! You can check out more kitchen favorites here.

FYI: This is not a sponsored post however some items in this post where bought by me for a separate brand collaboration.

Style Spotlight: Black Leather Jacket

When it comes to leather jackets you only need one good quality jacket that you’ll have for years. When the weather starts to cool, I always grab a leather jacket and it seems I am not the only one. Just Last Saturday both myself and my blogger BFF Kristin from It’s Kristin lifestyle blog had a black leather jacket on after our workout. We decided to both shoot with our leather jackets. See how Kristin styled her jacket here.

As you know I love wearing black, so it was no surprise that I paired my black jacket with black skinny pants which are another signature item and a favorite of mine. To break the black I wore a nude color long sleeved top with nude heels.

There are so many ways to wear a leather jacket and I have a few suggestions for you below!

5 Ways to Style a black leather jacket

  1. All Black: Wear your black leather jacket with black pants, black top, black shoes but accessorize with gold and wear a different color bag like brown, red or any print of your choice.
  2. Black leather and Blue Denim: Wear your black leather jacket with a black top, blue ankle length skinny jeans and a black pointy toe heel.
  3. Casual Leather look: Wear your black leather jacket with loose boyfriend jeans, a white tee and white converse sneakers.
  4. Girly Leather: A black leather jacket is not only great for pants and looks very chic with dresses and skirts. For example you can wear your black leather jacket with any solid color or printed skirt or dress.
  5. Work Friendly leather look: Trying to switch things up in the office? How about a black leather jacket, ivory chiffon blouse, black pencil skirt and heels.

Fall Fashion: How to layer with style

After the rather confusing weather patterns we have been experiencing in Boston it finally feels like fall! One could argue that fall brings the best fashion because of the different textures and layers that are added to our outfits. What I like about fall is that you can wear the same thing in different ways just by switching around the warm layer. In this look I started off with an all black base and layered the look with a faux fur vest and nude chunky heel pumps.

How to layer your outfit : Black pant and top base

  1. Tweed or plain blazer and booties.
  2. Thick wool sweater and black pointy or round toe heels.
  3. Long sleeved sweater, thick blanket scarf and knee-high leather boots.
  4. Tan colored classic trench coat, Burberry print scarf and black knee-high boots or ankle booties.
  5. Down jacket, white scarf and converse sneakers

I could go on and on as the possibilities are endless. You can certainly play around with layers based on your wardrobe style but always remember to be comfortable with your look. The most stylish people are always confident in their outfits even if they don’t fit the world’s definition of style. See my post on how to wear a black sweater dress for more style advice.

The Blanket Scarf: Fall must have

I am sure you have heard about the good old blanket scarf from many fashion sites and this is because they are truly the ultimate fall accessory. The name is because the scarf is very thick and warm resembling a blanket making it a great cold buster. I was in downtown Boston last weekend when it got very cold and I had to stop into the Primark store and found this gem for ten bucks, Imagine my excitement.

3 Reasons you should get a blanket scarf:

  1. They are very warm and functional: Unlike a regular scarf that just looks great a blanket scarf actually provides lots of warmth while still looking fabulous
  2. They are very stylish: Yes, something with the work blanket tied to it can be stylish. Make sure you choose prints that are not too busy to pull a great blanket scarf look.
  3. Its a classic: Blanket scarfs will always be in style because of their effectiveness in cold weather. So go ahead and get one, you will be glad you did.
