Burgundy In The City

Boy its been a moment since my last style post, that can only mean it’s winter time. When it gets cold, venturing outside becomes a chore for me. All I want to do is stay indoors, watch Netflix and chill. We had a slightly decent winter day recently and I was very happy to head into the city to hang out. I had also been dying to wear this burgundy coat and hat that I got a while back.

Burgundy Coat

Burgundy is one of those colors that you just don’t seek when you are shopping. You hardly hear anybody say burgundy is their favorite color but I am here to let you know you can totally rock this color. Because of its deep, rich and powerful look, burgundy is more suited for cooler temperatures similar to brown and navy blue.

Burgundy goes well with black which is the color combination I chose for my outfit. You can certainly pair it with other colors like sky blue and gold. Pairing it with white works but will look too preppy and uniform-like.

Bubbling in Burgundy

Once again its raining and the weather has been gloomy in Boston. Seriously when is the real spring weather going to start, I have some cute shoes I have been dying to wear. Last week we had one sunny day so we jumped at the opportunity to shoot while the sun was out. Since I was going wedding venue touring later that day I opted for this burgundy look. Safe to say I was bubbling in burgundy that day.

How to wear Burgundy

Burgundy is a surprisingly very stylish color, I don’t know why I never gravitated towards it when I was shopping. Maybe it’s because of my obsession with black clothing. This rich wine color is certainly a nice break from black.

  • Do the preppy look: Wear your burgundy colored pants with a houndstooth textile blazer for a very chic and preppy look like I did with this outfit.
  • Pair it with black: This lovely color goes very well with a few colors however it seems to be a perfect match with black. Think burgundy pants and a black blouse or vise versa. This combo makes for a very rich and elegant look.
  • Incorporate it in your accessories: If the thought of wearing this color scares you how about hints of it in your outfit like a burgundy hat. Matter of fact I just bought a this color hat from Aldo which I am wearing here. You could even opt for a scarf, bag or shoes in this fabulous color.
