Boston

A day in Boston’s Beacon Hill

Now that I live closer to the city I have been taking the time to explore the Boston more and it has been awesome. Checking out different neighborhoods and streets in the city is one of my favorite past times especially when the weather warms up. Last weekend we had a beautiful spring day and I decided to head out to the beautiful Beacon Hill neighborhood in Boston.

A day in Boston's Beacon HillThe Beacon Hill neighborhood has been referred to as one of Boston’s most picturesque areas. I couldn’t agree with this statement more. Lined with antique shops, boutiques, restaurants and beautiful cobble stone streets it is a truly gorgeous area.

I did not get a chance to take some shots on the famous Acorn street because it was packed with tourists so I went to the less busy streets. A characteristic of Beacon Hill are the stunning Victorian homes with beautiful doors and entrances. As you can tell I spent more time taking pictures of doors because I have a weird obsession with them.

If you are thinking of moving to Beacon Hill, plan on spending millions as it is one of the most expensive ares in the city. The homes, especially by Louisburg Square are worth over 15 million. For that reason I will stick to just visiting the area until I win the lottery.

After going for a walk and taking shots by the beautiful doors in the neighborhood I stopped by the lovely Rouvalis flower shop  and then grabbed a drink at the nearby Nourish Your Soul juice bar.  Ended the day relaxing at the public garden. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend the day.

There are so many laid back things to in Boston. If you are looking for a good hotel in the city I recommend the Aloft Boston Seaport hotel. You can read about my staycation at the hotel here

Good Eats Boston: Cafés and Coffee

I love coffee shops and cafés. The smell of fresh coffee brewing and the look of people quietly sitting at their tables working on their laptops or girlfriends chatting together sipping on lattes is a vibe I like very much.
There are certain things that I look for in a coffee shop or café. Great coffee, good ambiance, variety and great service. Boston has plenty to offer and there are two coffee shops and cafés that have caught my interest recently.

Tatte Bakery & Cafe wins in all aspects. The moment you enter, you are greeted by the smell of baked goods and fresh coffee. As a lover of anything freshly made, this is a winning combination in my book. Their menu is filled with lots of delicious items including avocado toast, topped with arugula and poached eggs. They even have shakshuka which is one of my favorite egg dishes. The decor is very crisp and like all their locations, the tiles are unique and eye capturing. No wonder many Boston bloggers can often be found here snapping cute Instagram photos. Tatte Bakery & Cafe is eye candy with a good menu to match.

La Colombe Coffee Roasters

La Colombe Coffee Roasters is a very no frills spot but is a winner when it comes to serving awesome coffee. I loved their colorful ceramic mugs very much. Even a simple order of hot chocolate is served with latte art. If you love Colombian coffee for its full body, smooth, and low acidic taste then this is your spot. Don’t expect a large selection of food but they serve some classic items like croissants, brownies and biscotti to go with the coffee.

What are your favorite coffee shops and cafés in your area and what do you like about them? I would love to hear from you in the comment box below!

Lantera: A Boston Luxury Apartment Community

If you are looking for a beautiful apartment community in Boston with top-notch amenities and luxurious living then Lantera probably popped up on your search list. I took a tour during their grand opening event and absolutely loved the space. Located in the Brighton neighborhood it’s the perfect place for you if you like to live near the city, universities, restaurants, the Charles River and more.

Lantera has a variety of residences starting from studios to three-bedrooms. I toured a number of their units including this good-sized one bedroom 1 bath apartment. The apartment does not feel cramped and the modern finishings, especially in the kitchen, are a plus. The kitchens include light and dark cabinet options, quartz countertops, under cabinet lighting and stainless steel appliances.

With floor to ceiling windows, balconies and walk in closets you can’t help but fall in love with the rooms. There is a clear focus on technology and good quality, elegant finishings throughout the rooms and the entire building.

One feature that is usually a deal breaker for most renters is the presence of a washer and dryer in the unit. Lantera has that covered; all apartments are energy-efficient.

you’ll fall in love with the common areas, which are comparable or even surpass some hangout spots in Boston in my opinion. In addition to a zen garden, there is an outdoor pool deck area with cabanas, fire pits, outdoor dining areas and private grilling stations. There is even an open gathering space with a fireplace lounge, bar and gaming area. For those who work from home you will love the tech bar! I would just move in for the amenities but everything else about these residences is awesome. Covered parking, fit studio, pet friendly, beautiful grounds and the fact that it’s next to a commuter rail stop are just some of the other great features Lantera provides.

With the way I am raving about this place one would think I work for them which I don’t. I just give credit when its due. This place is a gem and if you are not sure you want to live there, I suggest at least stopping by for a tour before crossing Lantera off your list.
