Style Spotlight: Black Ankle Booties

black ankle booties

I recently worked on a campaign with DSW and we had the option to pick a shoe that we liked from the store. I am already a shoe addict so I was like a kid in a candy store shopping for my next pair. No matter how many times I buy shoes, finding my next pair is always a fun adventure. If you have been in a DSW store then you know that store is like a danger zone for any shoe lover. Its Literally a warehouse full of designer shoes.

Since the weather has taken a cold turn its only fitting that my choice was the lucky Brand Faithly Bootie. I was a little torn about which color to pick but the black lover in me chose the black pair. I am seriously considering going back to get a light brown pair as I am absolutely in love with these ankle booties.

If you are interested in the Faithly bootie here is more information on the shoe design.

  • The black ankle booties have a stacked heel 1.37 inches in height: perfect for those looking for a short heeled bootie.
  • They have a Suede leather upper with a synthetic lining and outsole: I love that the upper is made of leather which means the shoe will last much longer than a synthetic upper.
  • As described by Lucky Brand; The Faithly Bootie has ultimate comfort and wear-anywhere appeal. I totally agree! I  have dressed them up and down with great results.

3 Ways to wear black ankle booties in winter

  •  Wear them with cropped jeans: In cooler seasons I like to wear my booties with ankle length jeans leaving little or no space between the top of the shoe and the bottom of the jeans. Think this black pair with black ankle length jeans, an ivory turtleneck sweater and a long camel coat.
  • Wear them with tights, a knit dress and a oversized jacket. This look is perfect for those cold but not freezing temperature days when you can rock a dress.
  • Pair your black booties with thick winter tights and a long chunky sweater or cardigan. I like this look with a wide brim hat and cross body purse. So chic!

Top 5 Fall trends of 2012

1.The ankle boot : Ankle boots are a fall must have . They look great with leggings, skinny jeans, short dresses and skirts. One of the easiest ways to wear black ankle boots is with black tights , this look is flattering for most body types. S and S tip: Never wear ankle boots with a long  skirt or dress, it just doesn’t work.

2.The tuxedo style blazer : I absolutely love blazers, they add an element of chic and elegance to any outfit. If you don’t own a blazer I suggest you put it on your next shopping list because it is a must have for any fashionista. This jacket can be worn formally at work with a pair of black pants and they also look great with skinny jeans and knee high boots.I love wearing mine with a pair of jeans and high heels.

3.Skinny mid rise jeans : These are a definite go to classic. I love that they are fitted from top to bottom with a slightly higher rise that is great for tucking in your tummy. You can wear them with heels or flats and they also slip right into boots with not need for folding or rolling. Need I say more.

4.The oversize clutch : While watching New york and Paris fashion week I noticed a lot of oversize clutches on the runway.Over sized clutches can be worn during the day and still manage to hold all your necessities. I find that clutches are a great way to polish a daytime look , just make sure you don’t over stuff them as it can distort the shape and design. When picking a clutch make sure you choose a bold design, texture or color because plain is just boring and doesn’t stand out. Treat your clutch as an accessory to your outfit.

5.Oxblood : One of the hottest colors this fall is ‘oxblood ‘ (check out the blazer and top above). This is a deep red color with hints of brown making it more demure than regular red. If you don’t want to go crazy with this color I suggest you pair it with black or nude. I love the look of an oxblood peplum top with black skinny jeans and high heels. This color looks great on bags and accessories too .
