Super Simple BLT Wedge Salad Recipe

Tired of the same old salad? How about making this easy and delicious BLT wedge salad. Something about eating a salad with a fork and knife is fun and it looks so pretty on the plate if you are hosting a dinner party. This wedge salad is basically made by cutting a lettuce head into wedges and topping it with bacon, tomato and ranch dressing. So simple yet so good!

What you need for a perfect Wedge BLT Wedge Salad

Iceberg Lettuce: The first thing to consider when making a wedge salad is the lettuce type. Although Iceberg lettuce lost it’s popularity after Romaine became mainstream, it is still the best choice for a wedge salad. The round shape makes it easy to create wedges and the compact leaves also help with maintaining the wedge shape. Iceberg lettuce also has a lovely crisp taste that goes perfectly well with the creaminess of the ranch dressing.

Good Quality Ranch Dressing: You can use any dressing but a ranch dressing is the absolute best for this saladIf you don’t have the time you can always use a store bought dressing however a homemade ranch dressing just takes this salad up a notch. I like to make my ranch dressing with Hood Sour Cream because of its great quality. Using fresh ingredients including chives, dill and garlic further elevate the taste of the dressing.

Tomatoes: Cherry tomatoes are sweet and super flavorful which makes them a great choice for a BLT wedge salad. If you don’t have cherry tomatoes you could use diced Roma tomatoes which do not have too many seeds and liquid.

Bacon: What is a BLT salad without the bacon. They say bacon makes everything better and I agree because it certainly makes this wedge salad better.  We love the Whole Foods brand reduced sodium bacon for this but any type of bacon will work. My tip is to broil your favorite bacon in the oven to get rid of most of the fat.

Those are the 4 main things you need for a BLT Wedge salad but you can add other ingredients as you wish. I like to add sweetcorn kernels and cucumber to this salad for more color. No matter what you add to it, you can’t go wrong with this salad.

  2. I love how you presented the lettuce, not your normal cut, love it. Lettuce and bacon are actually my 2 favorite foods, I don’t know why I never tried them together. Thanks for the recipe.

  3. From the second I saw the pic, I knew I had to try this recipe. We swapped the bacon for toasted nut and the salad was out of this world. Thank you!
