Although we live near Boston, My Fiancé and I love to go into the city for a staycation at least once a year. We love staycations because they usually mean complete relaxation, easy access to top restaurants, getting away from our regular routine and experiencing the city as tourists. For those unfamiliar with it, a staycation is a vacation spent in one’s home town or city and I highly recommend it! No luggage nightmares or worries about being late for your flight.
This year our staycation was at the chic and modern Aloft Boston Seaport Hotel in Boston. A couple of weeks after my visit I am still thinking about the great time that I had there. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably watched my stories while I was at the hotel. It was truly a blast.
Exterior: The Aloft Boston Seaport hotel is located in the booming seaport district, minutes from Downtown Crossing, the airport and many of the new hot spots in the Seaport area. The hotel itself has everything you need to relax and enjoy your stay.
We enjoyed sitting outside the chic hotel patio that is decorated with pretty chairs and beautiful flowers. I felt like I was at a retreat away from Boston whenever I sat there.
Interior: The interior of the hotel has a very contemporary feel with high tech features. I especially liked the touch screen elevator controls and their voice activated rooms. The fact that I could easily find a USB port in the room is a simple pleasure for a blogger like me who has to stay connected. You will be surprised how many hotels don’t have USB ports which I find unacceptable in this day and age.
Views from the room: We were lucky enough to get a room facing the city skyline and overlooking the Lawn on D were people can play yard games, enjoy the swings and concerts. At night time we enjoyed staring at the city lights while drinking some wine in the room.
The Room: The room we stayed in was comfortable, clean, and modern. I love that not only do we get a mini fridge and a coffee maker, but a good size flat screen TV and fancy alarm clock radio. I cannot even begin to explain how terrific it was to shower in the large walk in shower with a rain shower head that had the right amount of water pressure. I was super impressed with the Bliss shampoo and body wash which came out of dispensers. A convenient and a great way to save the environment instead of the individual disposable containers used in most hotels.
If you need a quick bite the hotel has Re:fuel by Aloft, a casual grab and go food station with plenty of food options from salads, sandwiches, yogurt, pastries and more. I ordered some scrambled eggs with vegetables for breakfast and they were good and reasonably priced. The coffee is free which I thought was a pretty cool.
Entertainment: One of the highlights of my visit to the Aloft Boston Seaport hotel was our experience at the W XYZ bar situated in the hotel lobby. Every Thursday night between 8 and 11pm the bar features emerging artists and bands from the Boston area. The night we were there we got to watch a live show from Planet Radio and the show was absolutely awesome. It was nice to experience the live performance while relaxing and drinking some cocktails from the bar.
If you are looking for a place to eat and hang out without having to go too far, there is an option right next to the hotel. The open lobby connects guests with the Social Register (a fab restaurant that offers shareable American food & cocktails with a patio & DJs) .
We had such a fabulous time at the Boston Seaport Hotel and a big thank you to Aloft Hotels for hosting us!
