8 steps to make the perfect steak

Contrary to popular
belief moderate consumption of lean red meat is actually good for your health.
Lean red meat is high in protein and iron which are all necessary for good
health. The most important thing is to incorporate other sources of protein in
your diet like seafood, poultry, beans and tofu that way you are not having
beef every other day.

I make a good steak
however I have to admit that my boyfriend is the king when it comes to steaks.
Whenever we have a steak dinner he is responsible for the steak and I am
responsible for the veggies. I asked him to tell me his tips for a great steak so I could share with you, here we go;

Steps to making a great steak
– Make sure steak is at room temperature before cooking
– Preheat oven to 350 degrees
–  Avoid complicated seasonings, all you need is salt and pepper on both sides. You want the steak to shine on its own.
– Preheat pan and coat both sides of the steak with olive oil
– Place steak in the middle of the pan and sear both sides for 3 minutes each
– Top steak with a tsp of butter with a sprig of rosemary and place in the oven for an additional 3 minutes.
– Use finger to test firmness; the firmer the steak the more well done it is.
– Remove from the oven and let it stand for 4 minutes, flip the steak after the first 2 minutes. This step is very important because if you cut the steak right after you remove it from the oven all the juices will run out resulting in a dry steak.

  1. These are great tips! One thing I always forget is to season both sides of anything! But then I usually season things while they're cooking. Doing this first will guarantee that I don't forget.
